Meredith-Webb Printing Co. Seeks Incentives for $10 Million Expansion
Incentives are tied to the creation of 10 new full-time jobs in North Carolina plant.
Burlington, NC-based Meredith-Webb Printing Co., one of the Triad’s largest printing companies with more than 100 employees, is seeking $150,000 in Alamance County incentives related to an expansion that includes a sheetfed offset press that is expected to arrive soon at the company’s facility.
As the Triad Business Journal reported earlier this year, the expansion includes the addition of a press called the KBA Rapida 205, made in Radebeul, Germany. It will mark Meredith-Webb’s fourth new printing press in five years, representing a combined press equipment purchase of more than $20 million. The press can print displays, packaging, signs and heat-transferred materials for the garment and fashion industries up to 81 inches by 60 inches.
The incentives are also tied to the creation of 10 new full-time jobs.
Kelly Webb, executive vice president of Meredith-Webb, said the incentives are needed to help finance the equipment and renovate existing space to make room for the printing press.
Alamance County Manager Craig Honeycutt said a public hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 5.
Meredith-Webb is expected to request an undisclosed amount of incentives from the city of Burlington. Frank Hope, interim city manager for Burlington, said a public hearing is set for Oct. 20. The company will have an opportunity to make its incentives request at that time.
