HDPE Reinforced Banner
Mid-volume print service providers can offer environmentally-conscious customers lightweight large-format applications tough enough to withstand outdoor conditions. With four dimensions to choose from, the HP HDPE Reinforced Banner becomes a flexible alternative to other outdoor solutions. The light-weight material helps reduce transportation and installation cost, and the HP Latex inks used on the banners produce high quality images with added durability. Recycling banners are easy with the HP Large-Format Media take-back program. Users can reduce overall carbon footprint with less greenhouse gas emission, while choose a cost-efficient alternative to vinyl in pricing and performance.
HP High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Reinforced Banner is a high-performance alternative to traditional PVC scrim banners with a lower impact on the environment. Designed for mid-volume print service providers, HP HDPE Reinforced Banner is ideal for a wide range of applications, from billboards to car wraps, as the uncoated substrate is both flexible and durable.
At 180 g/m2 (5.5 ounces), HP HDPE Reinforced Banner offers strength greater than or equal to 440 g/m2 (13-ounce) PVC scrim products and with the proprietary HP media surface-treatment technology, it delivers both durability and vivid image quality. This lightweight alternative also makes transportation, installation and disposal easier and more cost-efficient.
HP HDPE Reinforced Banner has a maximum stress of 91.8 MPa, and tear strength of 47.0 N. I offers display permanence up to one year unlaminated when using HP Latex Inks. Media brightness measures 90 percent per TAPPI, opacity is greater than 88 percent per TAPPI and the material is water-resistant. HP HDPE Reinforced Banner is available in four basic dimensions: 36 in. x 150 ft., 42 in. x 150 ft., 60 in. x 150 ft. and 104 in. x 330 ft.
Product Significance/Innovation:
HP High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Reinforced Banner is a high-performance alternative to traditional PVC scrim banners with a lower impact on the environment. At 180 g/m2, HP HDPE Reinforced Banner offers strength greater than or equal to 440 g/m2 PVC scrim products, but is 100 percent recyclable.
This tough, lightweight woven HDPE banner material is designed to withstand harsh weather conditions without fading and losing vibrancy thanks to a proprietary HP media surface-treatment technology. The substrate is temperature-, tear- and weather-resistant and offers significant cost benefits in terms of installation, transportation and disposal. In fact, HP HDPE Reinforced Banner reduces transportation costs by almost half per square foot of material.
Most flexible PVC scrim is disposed of in landfills because PVC is a polymer with a number of characteristics that make recycling or incineration difficult. With the addition of modifiers such as plasticizers and stabilizers, up to 80 percent of the materials in PVC scrim banner substrates pose incineration and recycling challenges. Additionally, PVC scrim is very durable and may last over 20 years in a landfill. By not adding plasticizers or stabilizers, HP HDPE Reinforced Banner is easier to recycle and can be done for free through the HP Large-format Media take-back program.
Using HP HDPE Reinforced Banner, companies can reduce their overall carbon footprint by up to two-thirds less than performance-equivalent 440 g/m2 PVC scrim after measuring materials extraction, transportation to the manufacturing site and greenhouse gas emissions generated during manufacturing. What's more, the list price for HP HDPE Reinforced Banner is approximately $0.23 per square foot, making this a competitive alternative to vinyl in both price and performance.
