Videk (Booth 1855) is introducing DocuVision Prime- Automated Print Quality Monitoring for Inkjet Presses. This new in-line product automates the quality assurance process for high-speed inkjet presses. To meet increasingly large volumes needed for new color personalized documents, print providers are looking for ways to reduce printer setup time and bolster production by automating manual QC practices. DocuVision Prime provides an innovative way to streamline “press-ready” operations to maximize the inkjet investment.

DocuVision Prime, an in-line print quality monitoring system, uses a well-defined diagnostic pattern injected into the workflow at the beginning and end of every job or pallet. The pattern is imaged by contact image sensors and precisely measures the health of the jetting modules to validate current press state. Configured to meet specific printer and customer output requirements, operators gain visual and analytical confirmation of:

  • Head Alignment- using precise cross and process direction stitching analysis
  • Color Registration- using 100% density primary color blocks
  • Jet-Outs via void conditions within CMYK color bars
  • Brand Color Monitoring- using golden image comparison.

Contact image sensors are installed into each print engine for duplex inspection or can be integrated into a free-standing unit stationed after the second print engine for future retrofit flexibility.

Investment in inkjet technology is driven in-part by a desire to improve production efficiency, and automated vision inspection is tied directly to this strategy. Real-time inspection leads to effective printer set up through precise analytics. DocuVision Prime assures production-ready integrity thereby maximizing the up-time of the press.
