Slingshot Automated Press Sheet Optimizer

Avanti (Booth 654) Slingshot’s rules-based Automated Press Sheet Optimizer automatically processes ganging criteria and calculates the optimal layout in an Estimate or Sales order. It takes files of varying flat sizes and intelligently produces layouts based on the individual sizes and quantities required. The software takes into account your unique manufacturing environment including presses, binding machines and paper stocks in determining the most cost-effective, layout for each possibility and imposition style.

Upon specification of the press and substrate, details for the gang run (plates, ink, substrate, and press calculations), are determined. Additionally, the cost and price of these elements are calculated for accurate job costing and inventory requirements. Avanti Slingshot’s Automated Press Sheet Optimizer can handle all of the complexities of single form/multi form, versioning or combo jobs.

Once modelling of the gang sheet is complete, and the most efficient layout selected, Avanti Slingshot Press Sheet Optimizer calculates and properly displays the number up of each item on the gang sheet. This critical information is shared throughout the entire Avanti Slingshot system, driving production planning, scheduling and job costing.

Avanti Slingshot Automated Press Sheet Optimizer is fully integrated, via JDF, with the industry’s leading prepress systems such as AGFA Apogee, Kodak Prinergy, Heidelberg Prinect, HP Production Center and Ultimate Technographics Impostrip. Upon approval by the operator, the final layout is automatically converted into imposition data and exported directly to the prepress system, using industry standard file formats (JDF, PDF) to ensure smooth integration.
