themediahouse GmbH in Germany searched for a solution to cut digitally. When they saw that there was no solution, they decided to build a system for themselves – for the will was strong, thus producing exceptional print products.

It took 1 year to put the beta system in operation. With the practical experience as a user, the system was continuously improved within 2 years. What began as a development for their own use is now coming to the market.

The motioncutter not only does CUT, ENGRAVE and PERFORATE – it also adds a new dimension in personalization: namecut.

And the best part is: all these functions can run simultaneously for each sheet, all together in one step.

The motioncutter takes away all the need for handling the sheets and can even allow the system to run in-line with a digital press. The next step was to provide extraction for the system to remove the dust from the substrates when lasered. The final part of the process involved developing software that would emulate many digital printer interfaces and make it easy for a digital press operator to understand.

What has been created is a machine which can cut out shapes for packaging, kiss cut labels, filigree cut cards, engrave art work and names and even personalizes each individual sheet with its unique namecut feature.
