Kongsberg C Table from Esko
The Kongsberg C Table is a finishing system for large, diverse jobs, offering 24/7 production in semi-industrial environments.
Redesigned in 2016, the Kongsberg C Table is a complete finishing system for large, diverse jobs, offering 24/7 production in semi-industrial environments. The largest Kongsberg C model can work with materials as large as 126” wide x 126” long. Covering more than ten feet across the table, a unique, extremely rigid, carbon-composite traverse assures excellent precision with no left/right/middle variances due to traverse bending. Thus, it supports high speed, fast acceleration, high quality cutting, creasing and powerful 3kW milling capabilities. Unlike other super-wide finishers, the Kongsberg C does not decelerate with demanding materials, handling the most complex jobs without sacrificing quality or throughput. The Kongsberg C processes the widest variety of materials with the highest throughput of any 3.2 meter finisher, working with an extensive range of finishing applications and substrates from paper and textiles to corrugated up to triple-wall thickness, fluted board, plastics, aluminum composites, and more. Tool covers offer clean, fast changing of a full range of tooling. Customers no longer need to invest in different digital finishing devices for different applications. With its combination of dexterity and power one machine fits all production needs—rolls, sheets, corrugated, milling—offering a more effective and smaller footprint solution than having to own multiple systems. For a machine so large, the Kongsberg C is remarkably easy to use—from the new, simple interface to the ease of replacing interchangeable tools on the table, helping to reduce operator error. The operator workstation mounts on any corner of the machine. A new maneuvering concept places an integrated joystick and operator panel on the traverse. It can be mounted on either side of the table. To make it easier for another operator, a second operator panel can be added. For easy loading and unloading, the new conveyor option can be manually jogged in both directions.
With the Kongsberg C cutting table, print providers have a table that can keep up with their wide-format digital printers. With no left/right/middle variances due to traverse bending, unlike other super-wide finishers the Kongsberg C does not decelerate with demanding materials. It handles the most complex jobs without sacrificing throughput or quality. Quick acceleration is also required to cut curved and polished surfaces.
The new Kongsberg C innovations include:
- Multizone production lets operators divide the Kongsberg table surface into two or more zones. While the table head works on one zone, an operator can clear the finished piece and load a new sheet on the other zone—allowing the machine to operate continuously.
- The new Auto Tool Adjust uses camera inspection and digital image processing to ensure knife blades and router bits are sharp and correctly installed. Operators get feedback on set-up or replacing bits and blades.
- Table automation becomes extremely important because it can reduce wait time between processing each sheet of material for cutting. The new Kongsberg i-BF board feeder is one of a family of high-capacity sheet feeders. It feeds corrugated, paper core boards and plastics quickly and accurately from pallets. It is indispensable for the automation of all applications that require medium to high run lengths of rigid materials.
- The new Lubri-Cool tool sprays a fine mist of vegetable oil on the table, allowing sign makers to cut aluminum much faster and cleaner. Companies that have limited floor space can do the majority of their CNC and cutting work quickly and efficiently on one machine rather than two. Any sign shop that does not want—or cannot afford—both an X-Y and CNC table, can now do just about all the work on one table.
