Steve Johnson, president & CEO of Copresco, is an executive with over 40 years of experience in the graphic arts. Johnson has extensive skills in business management, marketing and sales, business process development—and is an award-winning writer. He founded Copresco, a pioneer in digital printing technology and printing on-demand, in 1987.

Copresco specializes in digital on-demand printing of publications, books and manuals for general business, the printing trade, authors & publishers, technical & industrial firms, schools, and associations & institutions.

Prior to Copresco, Johnson had been employed in widely varied roles at such diverse graphic arts firms as Meriwether Publishing, DeLuxe Poster Corp, Team Custom Printing, Business Cards Tomorrow and PDQ Copy Service.

Johnson was a founding member of the Digital Printing Council of the Printing Industries of America. He has also served on PIA’s Sales & Marketing Executives council. He served on the board of directors of the Printing Industry of Illinois/Indiana Association and has been a member of the finance committee. He has been honored as a senior member by the Society for Technical Communication.

Steve served on the College of DuPage graphic arts technology advisory committee and now is on the college’s Business/Management/Marketing Advisory Committee. Steve has also previously served on the Technology Center of DuPage graphic communications advisory committee and the Illinois State Board of Education Graphic Communication Task Force.

Johnson has been active as an author, consultant and speaker on a variety of business and technological topics for the graphic arts and technical communications industries. Thousands of readers enjoy his popular monthly column Johnson’s World which has appeared in Printing Impressions, American Printer, and Printing News magazines for which he has won APEX and STC awards. He has also won numerous awards for publications excellence, marketing communications, newsletter editing and website creation and development.

In addition to monthly magazine columns, Johnson has been published in the journals Graphic Arts Technical Foundation World, Printing Industries of America Technology Forecast, and Inland Press Association Inlander. He has been featured in such magazines as Printing Impressions, Modern Reprographics, Business Ledger, Quick Printing, In-Plant Graphics, and Printing Equipment Guide.

Johnson has presented on the state of the industry for organizations including Chicago Book Clinic, Nat'l Printing Equipment Association, Graphic Arts Show Company, Illinois Institute of Technology, Printer's Guild, Technology Center of DuPage, Society for Technical Communication, and Printing Industries of America. He has been a featured speaker at such renowned events as Inkjet Summit, Graph Expo, Variables Conference, and Offset & Beyond.

He serves as a judge in the Inland Press Association's Annual Print Quality Competition, and in Wheaton Public Schools' Entrepreneur Expo for eighth-grade students.

A member of the Wheaton Rotary Club, Johnson recently served as club president, and has been active in international service, vocational, youth exchange and youth leadership training programs, and literacy projects. He has been honored as the club’s Rotarian of the Year.

Johnson is a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn, Illinois where he has served as an elder. He is an elected Milton Township committeeman.

An avid cyclist, Johnson enjoys century rides and extended bicycle trips and serves on the West Suburban Active Transportation Council and is the vice-president and co-founder of the Friends of the East Branch DuPage River Trail.
