Standard Horizon BQ-480 Perfect Binder

The new Standard Horizon BQ-480 is the latest introduction in Horizon’s acclaimed line of perfect binders, setting new standards in automation and efficient, high quality production. The BQ-480 paces its class in several key areas, including set-up and changeover for variable book production, where it reaches a maximum speed of 800 books per hour for book of one production, supporting book thicknesses from 0.04” (1 mm) to 2.56” (65 mm). By simply measuring the book in the digital caliper, the machine calibrates automatically for book block thickness, glue amount, cover positioning, and cover scoring.

Additional advances in automation include customized setup accounting for paper type, signature vs. loose sheet, sewn book blocks, notch binding, and other key factors. From the binder’s movable, color touchscreen, the operator can make automated adjustments to roller height, nipping height, side glue, and more.

Designed to meet the requirements of PUR book binding, the BQ-480 includes a gentle elevator delivery system with a mere 5mm drop. Even at the maximum weight and thickness, books are gently delivered without damage or marking. The binder also accommodates lower temperatures for PUR glue to give additional flexibility in glue choice. The BQ-480 is available for demonstrations in Standard Booth 1629.
