Océ ImageStream 3500
The new Océ ImageStream 3500 inkjet press from Canon USA (Booth 613) offers a printing speed of up to 262 feet per minute with a resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi.
A major dilemma affecting today’s print service providers is making the transition from using offset technology to entering the digital printing market – especially because high-quality inkjet printing typically requires treated paper or special add-ons such as bonding agents or primers to achieve optimum quality. However, the Océ ImageStream 3500 from Canon U.S.A. (Booth 613) makes the changeover much more seamless: this device can effectively print on offset-coated paper stocks and consistently produces the same high-quality output across both offset and digital production lines, removing the need for commercial printers to use two different types of paper.
Two new, key technologies allow the Océ ImageStream 3500 to print on both digital and conventional paper stock at 1200 x 600 dpi: a flexible droplet modulation, which increases the perceived image resolution, and pigment inks that provide finer edge sharpness, less fray and dot gain, and increased optical density. The ink helps produce a stronger contrast, resulting in razor sharp lines or letters and increased color vibrancy.
The Océ ImageStream 3500 rivals the productivity and print quality of the traditional B2 offset press, and the real-world benefits to print service providers are numerous: now, they have the freedom of choice between digital and conventional technologies depending on job requirements like run length, turnaround time and print window. This device is ideal for offset printers looking to invest in digital printing technology and take advantage of its many benefits, as well as digital printers making upgrades to optimize costs and boost production efficiencies further.
