KBA North America's new Rapida 75 E-model 29-inch press, based on the Rapida 75 half-size press unveiled at DRUPA 2008, is available in two to eight units. This latest version sports many advances, including a new noise insulated KBA feeder, automated format setting, sheet grippers adapted from large-format Rapidas, shell-free transfer drums, air-blast sheet guides plus new sheet brake in the delivery, semi-automatic plate change with pin register system, and remote maintenance via the Internet. The E designation stands for environmentally friendly, economic savings and energy saving.
Environmentally friendly washing systems for the rollers, blankets and impression cylinders are standard. Washing the blankets and impression cylinders simultaneously dramatically cuts makeready time. The appropriate washing program can selected at the delivery touchscreen. The Rapida 75E has the ability to output up to 16,000 sph on a stock range to 30-point gloss and matte finishes, solid and spot coatings, scented varnishes and other specialized applications are available with the coater on the Rapida 75E, which features a Harris & Bruno chamber blade system like the larger Rapida models.
The Rapida 75E’s ErgoTronic control console and handy touchscreen display at the delivery are the operator’s two main workplaces. Register, ink-key and most other press settings can be entered directly at the delivery touch screen, saving unnecessary legwork. At the end of 2010, KBA will launch a four-over-four perfector version of the Rapida 75E.
