UV and Solvent Inks
Spain-based Chimigraf Iberica S.L. has officially announced its expansion into the US.
Spain-based Chimigraf Iberica S.L. has officially announced its expansion into the US. With its formal introduction at the SGIA Expo in New Orleans, Chimigraf will be showcasing its high-end UV and solvent inks for the digital inkjet wide and superwide markets, which are offered at significant cost-savings over printer manufacturers' inks.
Boasting an extensive client base and network of distributors in Europe, Africa and Asia that positioned the company as a top-tier ink manufacturer, Chimigraf recently brought in printing veteran Mark Packman, director of sales, to expand operations into the Americas and open its first US distributorship. With more than 20 years of experience in the graphic arts industries, Packman, who was hired in April and has already developed more than 30 accounts with leading super wide printers in Mexico, will next construct the company's US sales and marketing operations including reseller development programs. Previously serving as president of NUR America, which was later sold to Hewlett Packard's industrial print division, Packman is chartered with broadening the business and opening ink markets that are traditionally dominated by printer manufacturers.
"I am more than excited that Chimigraf is entering the US market, and the timing couldn't be better," said Packman. "Given the current global economic crisis, Chimigraf represents a compelling alternative to wide format printers who, until now, have had little or no choice but to procure ink from their printer manufacturer. Chimigraf not only has superior inks, but can drastically reduce the printer's manufacturing costs.? Packman continued to say, ?with margins eroding it is important for all printers to find ways to increase quality while reducing their costs. Chimigraf can help them do this."
Chimigraf specializes in the production of aqueous, solvent and UV inks for flexography, rotogravure, screen, and digital inkjet systems. Also, Chimigraf prides itself as a leader in the manufacturing of ink for emerging markets including printing on wood, ceramic, and corrugated substrates. Running at speeds of up to 15,000 sqft/hr, these printers utilize Chimigraf ink in a high speed single pass application. Sought out by machine manufacturers to develop and produce original ink for their machines, Chimigraf has patented formulas that produce the smallest particle size of pigments, wider color gamut, and higher gloss, to be used in digital inkjet printers from HP/Scitex, Vutek, Matan, Gandi, Inca and more. The company also offers pigmentary dispersions (CHIPs) and auxiliary coating products and also has a complete line of environmentally-friendly ecoPure inks for the Roland, Mutoh and Mimaki printers.
Chimigraf acknowledged it has met some resistance from US companies that would like to reduce overhead expenses but are concerned with printer warranty or print head damage. "Switching to another ink supplier can be a daunting task," said Packman, "especially since such a significant capital equipment investment is involved. Once a client sees the quality of our inks, however, and learns that we are the only ink manufacturer to offer a written warranty against print head damage, changing to Chimigraf becomes a very simple business decision."
Packman, who is already testing inks at several leading US printing facilities, emphasized that the company-wide commitment to unequalled quality service and support of the entire ink-changing process, makes the switch to Chimigraf inks seamless to printers and their clients.
The director went on to say that he expects the company's exhibition at SGIA to be met with an overwhelming response. "I have no doubt we will be more than well-received at this show, and I'm confident that the printers we meet at SGIA will be equally excited at discovering our quality inks, especially when they hear about the potential cost reduction."
