Printable Claritex Polycarbonate Films

R Tape Corporation has introduced clear and white 10 mil top coated Claritex polycarbonate films for eco-solvent inkjet printers. The clear Velvet/Polish film is an excellent choice for backlit applications and graphic overlay panels. The 95 percent opaque white Velvet/Matte film can be used for Point-Of-Purchase posters, retractable banner stands, tradeshow booth panels, transit advertising and bus shelter advertising.
Both Claritex polycarbonate films feature a specially formulated ink-receptive coating, which accomplishes a number of important functions:
? Controls dot gain allowing for exceptional reproduction of high resolution, colorful graphics.
? The absorbent coating permits printing of heavy ink saturation, especially important for backlit displays.
? Good anchorage of the top coating to the polycarbonate facestock and the ink to the top coating.
? Accelerates drying times.
The polycarbonate films can be printed using the following eco-solvent inkjet printers and OEM inks:
? Epson Stylus Pro Series printers using UltraChrome GS inks.
? Mimaki JV3, JV33, JV5 printers using ES3 inks.
? Mutoh ValueJet printers using Eco-Ultra inks.
? Roland Versacamm VP-300 & VP-540 and SOLJET PRO III XC-540 printers using ECO-SOL MAX inks.
The 10 mil clear Velvet/Polish polycarbonate film is top coated on the polish side for subsurface printing in reverse with ecosolvent inkjet printers. The coated or print side of the film is wound on the outside of the roll.
By printing in reverse on the gloss subsurface, the Claritex polycarbonate film protects the printed graphic. The textured velvet finish on the outside surface of the film prevents distracting reflections from overhead lights, improving readability and enhancing the beauty of the printed graphic. This mar-resistant finish also hides any unsightly surface scratches. Because the 10 mil film is stiff, it is easy to slide into backlit display boxes.
The 10 mil white Velvet/Matte Claritex film is top coated on the matte side for printing with eco-solvent inkjet printers. With better than 95 percent opacity, the white polycarbonate film provides the hiding power needed when the film is used for tradeshow panels and retractable banner stands, eliminating background shadows.
For added rigidity, the printed side of the white polycarbonate can be laminated with an Eclypse polycarbonate overlaminate. Printed clear Claritex films can be laminated to a white backer, which will protect the printed image.
Claritex polycarbonate films exhibit excellent lay flat characteristics. The flatness of the sheet prevents damaging head strikes during printing. The lay flat feature also prevents edge curl, which is a major complaint about media used in banner stands.
R Tape's new Eco-Solvent Printable Claritex polycarbonate films are available in 30-inch, 54-inch and 60-inch widths, in 30-foot and 60-foot rolls.
