Reprographic Technology International (RTI) will premiere its Vortex 4200 printer to the North American market at PRINT 13 (booth #3790) Sept. 8-12 in Chicago, IL, and at SGIA (booth #1245 ) Oct. 23-25 in Orlando, FL.

Powered by Memjet, RTI’s Vortex 4200 wide format printer targets several applications including CAD, AEC, GIS and point-of-sale graphics. Inside the Vortex 4200 is revolutionary Memjet Waterfall Printhead Technology with five printheads for single-pass wide format printing offering a combination of speed and quality never before thought possible. Compared to traditional wide format printers, the Vortex 4200 delivers incredible job turnaround times and attractive total cost of ownership. The 42-inch wide Vortex 4200 can print 1600x800 dpi output at 12 inches per second and 9,168 feet per hour, thanks to its 352,000 jets that release up to 3 billion drops of ink per second.

RTI showcased the Vortex 4200 in June at FESPA London, where the printer received strong reviews. The company has signed initial global dealer agreements for the EMEA region and has sold several units there. RTI has also signed its first US dealers in advance of launching the product here.

“We are very pleased with our business activity since rolling out the Vortex 4200 in London and even more pleased with feedback from newly signed dealers and dealer prospects,” says Erik Norman, vice president of sales for RTI.

“They tell us that the combination of speed and print quality from our device is the best they’ve seen and that they appreciate the relationship and collaborative approach we’ve taken toward earning their business,” Norman adds.

Carl Byrne, president of Evergreen Technologies says: “I’ve been eagerly following Memjet technology and components development for wide format applications, and was very curious to see the performance first-hand. RTI’s Vortex 4200 exceeded my expectations for speed and quality. I am also impressed by RTI’s offering of other Memjet based printers. These products will enable wide format dealers to enter new markets, and given the Vortex 4200’s ability to excel in the CAD/AEC market, I expect many wide format dealers will add these products to their solutions portfolio. I see tremendous opportunity to help clients and wide format dealers increase their top line and productivity with the Vortex 4200 and other Memjet based products.”

Michael Midkiff, RTI’s North American business director for print solutions says: “I am thrilled to launch the Vortex 4200 in North America and firmly believe that the product and our company’s approach will impress customers. As a former print shop owner, I’m very focused on product quality, ease of use, and enabling operators to increase their hourly revenue production. For print shops with higher volumes of on-demand print jobs, they can benefit from huge productivity advantages offered by the Vortex 4200.”

Mike Puyot, president of Memjet Wide Format, says 2013 has been a breakout year for Memjet-powered OEM wide format products. The launch of RTI’s Vortex 4200 is the latest in a series of new wide format products that are dramatically changing how print is delivered and used.

“We’re pleased with the approach RTI has taken, and we are confident that RTI customers will see what matters most to them: increased wide format printing efficiency and productivity, coupled with exceptional results,” Puyot says. “We look forward to the North American launch, as well as increasing momentum both here and abroad through this year, into 2014 and beyond.”
