SGIA Honors Industry Excellence, Announces 2014 Board of Directors

With the close of 2013 SGIA Expo (October 23-25), SGIA has announced the winners of this year's Golden Image competition. This annual competition celebrates industry-leading excellence and covers almost every item, no matter how complex, created by specialty imaging. Hundreds of entries were evaluated by an elite team of imaging professionals, who awarded gold, silver and bronze ribbons to the best prints.

Each submission may earn one of four awards:

• Award of Excellence (Gold) recognizing the highest achievement possible in a given category
• Award of Distinction (Silver) awarded for exemplary quality
• Award of Merit (Bronze) for outstanding performance
• Certificate of Honorable Mention for commendable performance

All entries were displayed in the Golden Image Gallery on the Expo floor in Orlando, where they remained for the duration of the show. SGIA's highest Golden Image Award honors, including Best of Show (digital, garment and graphic screen printing categories), Best in Creativity (digital only) and People's Choice were determined on Friday, October 25.

2014 Board of Directors

SGIA also announced the new Board of Directors for 2014 and welcomed Pete Gallo of Vista Color Imaging Inc as the new Chairman for the 2014. Gallo was appointed along with incoming First Vice Chairman Tim Markley of Markley Enterprise; Second Vice Chairman Hoddy Peck of Meisel; and Third Vice Chairman Rich Thompson of Ad Graphics Inc.

James Gill of FUJIFILM Dimatix Inc continues as Associate Vice Chairman. Edward Cook Jr. of E C I Screen Print Inc was named Secretary, and Michael Mockridge of Mockridge Doming Systems was named Treasurer.

Kim Magraw of GM Nameplate Inc joins SGIA’s Board of Directors this year. Those continuing their terms on the Board include Christopher Bernat of Vapor Apparel/Source Custom; Ford Bowers of Miller-Zell Inc; Sheila Caddell of Alabama Graphics & Eng Supply; Thomas Cooper of RockTenn Merchandising Displays; Terry Corman of Corman Synergy Inc; Scott Crosby of Holland & Crosby Limited; Tom Davenport of Motion Textile; Michael Emrich of Meto-Grafics Inc; Nathan Franzblau of Graphic Application Systems; Kevin Gazdag of KSK Visual Ingenuity; Christopher Howard of Durst Image Technology US LLC (Durst US); David Landesman of Lawson Screen & Digital Products Inc; C Y Lee of C Y International Co Ltd; Steve Urmano of Next Wave Media Solutions; and Ronald Vinyard of BBC Industries/Black Body.
