The Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) presented Publicis New York with the agency's first OBIE Best of Show Award for its Pepto-Bismol campaign. The OBIE Award winners were honored at a gala dinner on the closing night of the 2011 OAAA/TAB National Convention & Trade Show in Miami Beach.

"The Pepto-Bismol ads encompass all that great outdoor advertising should—simplicity, creativity, and intrigue," said Stephen Freitas, OAAA chief marketing officer. "Mixed with some classic humor and a clear message, this multi-format campaign is well deserving of such an esteemed honor."

OAAA presented 11 Gold OBIE Awards in multiple categories recognizing outstanding creative across a variety of platforms and formats. Wong, Doody, Crandall, Weiner, the only agency to take home two Gold OBIEs this year, was honored for its Cedars-Sinai Spine Center and Alaska Airlines campaigns.

Tracy Wong, chairman and executive creative director of Wong, Doody, Crandall, Weiner, and chief OBIE judge, served as master of ceremonies for the 69th Annual OBIE Awards ceremony.

"The OBIE Awards celebrate—pure and simple—outstanding creative work and the creative directors, art directors, copywriters, and photographers who make it happen," said Wong. "This year's submissions once again demonstrated the power of the out of home medium to move and motivate, capture and cajole...and to sell products."

OAAA also awarded 28 Silver OBIEs and 72 Finalists. Five agencies received both Gold and Silver OBIEs, and two earned multiple Silver OBIEs. Colle+McVoy; CP+B; and Wong, Doody, Crandall, Weiner tied for the most OBIEs with three each. Buntin Out-of-Home Media's enduring Cracker Barrel outdoor campaign won the 2011 OBIE Hall of Fame Award.

"This year we presented OBIE Awards in a broad range of advertising categories. The diversity in winners demonstrates how out of home advertising continues to appeal to brands with originality and innovation," said Nancy Fletcher, president and CEO, OAAA.
