Agfa Graphics demonstrated the newest additions to the world-leading :Arkitex workflow management software suite designed to increase productivity, reduce costs, increase quality and provide a competitive edge in today’s challenging market for newspaper printers and publishers. All of :Arkitex suite’s components will be running live and available for demonstrations at the company’s stand at drupa (Düsseldorf, Germany May 3 – 16, Hall 8A).
“Advanced workflow software solutions such as those found in the :Arkitex family can help newspaper publishers be more profitable in today’s changing market. The new developments we’ve created for our :Arkitex family of workflow tools demonstrate Agfa Graphics’ commitment to the newspaper market around the world," said Andy Grant, Global Director of Software, Agfa Graphics.
Among the software solutions with new features being demonstrated at drupa are:
- :Arkitex Eversify
:Arkitex Eversify automates mobile publishing via a cloud-based system, integrating with the publisher's existing systems. :Arkitex Eversify includes new features such as integration with Twitter and Facebook, helping publishers leverage their readers’ social networks. There is also added support for photo galleries.
- :Arkitex Portal
:Arkitex Portal is enhanced by a number of features designed to help publishers work more effectively. These include: single layer soft proofing allowing them to catch separation and color problems earlier in the process; color managed soft proofing to give users a display representative of the printed result; and page position indicators to show on the soft proof where the page content should appear. Portal also includes soft proof annotation, which improves efficiency by allowing users - both publisher and printer - to have tighter and easier communication.
- :Arkitex Director (version 8)
:Arkitex Director, Agfa Graphics’ leading plate production workflow, improves newspaper publishers’ efficiency, lowers costs, and increases the potential profitability of their printing business. Director version 8 has many enhancements, including the ability to display soft-proofs as a flip-book. It also features ad stitching, allowing customers that do large amounts of ad-based zoning to create the page one time and stitch ads into the pages.
- :Arkitex PressRegister
Many printing presses, old and new, suffer from a variety of registration issues resulting in dissatisfied advertisers and readers and increased press waste. :Arkitex PressRegister corrects press-ready TIFF bitmaps for press misregistrations such as rotation, fan-out, trapezoidal distortions and misregistration of only part of a page.
- :Arkitex Veripress
Veripress is a full quality color-managed press softproofing system conforming to all international print standards. Veripress enables press operators to check their publication right at the press console with a combination of a high-quality display and a touch screen. It is tightly integrated with Agfa Graphics’ :Arkitex Director and ensures consistent and accurate soft proofing of all pages of any edition and zone.
- :Arkitex Quality
The latest version of :Arkitex IntelliTuneX extends the skin tone correction to work more accurately with a greater range of skin tone colors, particularly for very dark skin tones. :Arkitex OptiInk now features OptiColor, which is a completely automated color transformation system that ensures maximum quality and ink saving, even with PDF files separated with incorrect profiles.
