As large format color scanning becomes more accessible, affordable and user-friendly, another trend emerges to unite input and output—the large format color copier. In the past, large format color copying was often outsourced. There weren’t many options available, and because of limitations with software and bulky product footprints, large format color copying was something that the average office left to the “other guys.”
Paradigm Imaging’s Supra was a ground-breaking entry into the large format color copying world. It combined “best of breed” components from companies such as Graphtec and Canon with Paradigm’s imageFLOW™ touch screen compatible software, their adjustable Ergo stand and powerful Rocket™ controller. In 2009 the NEW SUPRA was released. With a new compact look, a more powerful Rocket™ controller, an upgraded scanner and the state-of-the-art Canon iPF750 printer, the New Supra is winning rave reviews (BERTL’s 4 ½ stars) and, more importantly, has brought large format color copying to the forefront. The Supra is a viable option for any office. Architects, government offices, construction companies, and design firms are just a few of the applications that use the Supra as their large format color copying solution.
Another new twist to large format color copying is Paradigm’s latest entry into the MFP arena – the imagePRO FLEX. The imagePRO Gx42 series scanner sets this system apart, making it a high end color reproduction system when paired with any large format color graphics printer. The image PRO Gx42 scanners deliver the highest definition CCD image capture available on the market, important for capturing the vibrant colors and intricate details in artwork. A dual LED Illumination system, versus traditional fluorescent lighting, is another important feature. LEDs require less calibration, no warm up time, and do not contain mercury, making these new scanners much more environmentally friendly. The imagePRO Gx42 series also features a state-of-the-art feed mechanism, allowing for the safe scanning of delicate originals. The “T” or thick document version allows for scanning of mounted materials up to .8" thick.
Paradigm’s imageFLOW™ software is another major component to the imagePRO FLEX. The same software that brought the Supra to every office gives the imagePRO FLEX the distinction of being a high end color reproduction system. Because imageFLOW ™ is compatible with 550 different large format color printers, the photographer, artist or architect now has a workable solution for their large format color copying needs, using their existing large format color printer. The scanning, printing and copying can be done in one location, without the worry of transporting valuable originals to another source for processing.
Another key to the popularity of Paradigm’s large format color solutions is POWER. As they say, good things come in small packages, and that is certainly true with Paradigm’s Rocket ™ Scanner Controller. This compact and impressive controller contains a 2.4Ghz Quad-Core Processer, 2GB of RAM and a 250 GB SATA hard drive. It comes loaded with Windows™ XP Professional and also has a CD/DVD R + combo drive.
The days of outsourcing large format color copy jobs are over, as companies like Paradigm Imaging continue to break new ground with unique, affordable and highly integrated systems. The Supra large format color copier and the imagePRO FLEX fine art reproduction system bring large format color copying to a wide spectrum of professionals from architects to artists, construction companies to GIS.
