New Midwest Commingling Center Tour - Quad/Graphics

Quad/Graphics' new mailing automation and commingling facility is up and running in New Berlin, WI.

Commingling is a process that combines mail from several mailers into one mail-stream in order to take advantage of postal rate savings. Mailers who wouldn't otherwise qualify for reduced postal rates can take advantage of rate savings when part of a large mail piece pool.

Beginning January 2014, the USPS will require all mailers to use the full service IMb barcode in order to maintain discounts on mail automation. At Quad's commingling facility, address hygiene is performed on every mail file to ensure it conforms to USPS regulations. Mail files are then presorted and automatically appended with the IMB barcode in order to qualify for the best postage rates.
