Newspaper Group Holds Annual Conference to Coincide with PRINT

ING is hosting its 2013 conference at the Hyatt Regency Chicago in conjunction with PRINT 13.

The International Newspaper Group is a not-for-profit organization comprised of newspaper operations executives and industry suppliers. ING meets once a year to exchange information, best practices, and foster a better understanding of the latest technology and processes impacting newspaper and print production.

ING is hosting its 2013 conference at the Hyatt Regency Chicago in conjunction with PRINT 13. Sponsors include Baldwin, EAE, Flint Group, Fujifilm, Goss International, imPRESSions, Inland Newspaper Machinery Group, KBA, manroland, Muller Martini, Pressline Services, Printing & Distribution Solutions, RBP Chemical Technology, Southern Lithoplate, and US Ink.

The weekend kicked off with a lively reception on Friday, September 6, where industry executives converged with friends and colleagues. The conference began yesterday, Saturday, and wraps up today with a morning board meeting.

Saturday’s sessions included: "Industry Upgrades,” from the Miami Herald, Albany Times Union, and the Colombus Dispatch; "Digital Print Models—Lessons Learned,” by Oce’/manroland, TKS, and Dow Jones; "Prepress & Consolidated Worklows,” presented by execs from The Wall Street Journal, Gannett, Express KCS, and Affinity Express; and “Emerging Technology,” presented by Quad Graphics, CTO Kodak, and Goss.

Kristy Gerry, ING president and director of production for the Omaha World-Herald, opened the conference. Dave Blais of Quad Graphics delivered the keynote.
