Ricoh Americas Corp., a leading provider of digital office equipment, announced the move and upgrade of the data center hosting its Software as a Service (SaaS) document management solution, DocumentMall. The facility, managed by Savvis, Inc. (NASDAQ: SVVS), a global leader in outsourced internet infrastructure services for the enterprise, meets Statement of Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) Type II requirements, confirming that proper procedures are in place to safeguard customers? financial data. SAS 70 reports meet the requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) for effective internal controls by public companies.

Ricoh chose to move DocumentMall to Savvis? data center to offer customers a higher level of assurance that even the most sensitive of data is protected and safeguarded, meeting SOX requirements. The Savvis facility also provides improved application availability and faster processing through multiple redundant utility servers at the web, application and database tiers. Enhanced system monitoring ensures uninterrupted service for those using DocumentMall to share, collaborate, archive and access documents over the Internet 24 hours a day. The increased computing capacity and a scalable architecture of the center offers more growth potential, enabling Ricoh to expand its DocumentMall service offerings and support the needs of a growing customer base.

?Ricoh is committed not only to providing customers with SaaS solutions like DocumentMall, but also evolving that software to deliver high-level information security, improved workflow efficiencies, and operational enhancements to help businesses run more effectively,? said Hede Nonaka, executive vice president, Ricoh Americas Corporation.

Ricoh?s DocumentMall provides businesses with a powerful document management solution at a fraction of the cost of traditional server-based solutions. The SaaS solution eliminates large upfront investments in software, hardware and IT support while helping customers improve document security, regulatory compliance and business continuity. DocumentMall?s seamless integration with Ricoh multifunctional devices enables customers to easily consolidate paper and electronic documents in a secure environment for storing, managing and sharing via the Internet. The solution also is eco-friendly in that it reduces the need for hard copy files, minimizing paper and ink consumption.

?Savvis is one of the world?s largest providers of high performance managed hosting providing Ricoh with highly secure facilities to protect its customers? data,? said Bryan Doerr, chief technology officer, Savvis, Inc. ?We also understand that regulatory and data security concerns are of the utmost importance to organizations today so we are proud to help Ricoh provide its customers with a secure and reliable solution to manage, archive and share information.?

DocumentMall was introduced in 2001 as a cost-effective alternative to installing expensive computer hardware and hiring a dedicated IT staff for businesses needing to store, share and maintain critical documents.
