New Product Description

Xerox Iridesse Production Press – The Xerox Iridesse™ Production Press, a 2018 InterTech Technology Award recipient, launched in May 2018 as the first xerographic digital press that can do more with color on the printed page – CMYK and up to two specialty colors in a single pass at 120 ppm with spot on registration. At Print 18, Xerox is introducing two new features for Iridesse: High Definition Emulsion Aggregate (HD EA) white dry ink and extra long sheet sizes.

The new HD EA white dry ink can be layered under or over CMYK – or both for a double hit – enabling print providers to produce new applications on a wider range of media including black, transparent or metallic stocks, craft paper, and synthetics and polys. Additionally, the press can print on extra long sheets up to 13” wide by 47.24” long and can auto-duplex extra long sheets up to 28.5” long.

Expanded Tech Overview – The Xerox Iridesse Production Press

The Xerox Iridesse™ Production Press, a 2018 InterTech Technology Award recipient, launched in May 2018 as the first xerographic digital press that can do more with color on the printed page – CMYK and up to two specialty colors in a single pass at 120 ppm with spot on registration. At Print 18, Xerox is introducing two new features for Iridesse: white dry ink and extra-long sheet sizes up to 47.24” long. The press can now print on an even broader range of stocks with up to two specialty colors including gold, silver, clear or white dry inks.

The press uses a new formulation of High Definition Emulsion Aggregate (HD EA) toner that delivers low-gloss, small-particle (5 microns) toner. This new toner technology enables an even transfer of up to six layers of toners while delivering greater image quality for vector graphics, finer lines and text, and smoother gradients. The new formulation also improves the sparkle of metallic prints, with flat metallic flakes embedded into the toner particles.

At the heart of the press is Color FLX technology, a six toner station configuration that brings flexibility to the process of creating jaw-dropping effects and a rainbow of iridescent colors. Four specialty dry inks are available and can be delivered from either of the two specialty toner stations – one laying down ink before CMYK, and the other after.

With this expanded palette, operators can mix silver and gold dry inks together or combine them with CMYK tints to create iridescent hues and sparkling, metallic tones. The new white dry ink can be layered under or over CMYK – or both for a double hit – enabling print providers to produce new applications on a wider range of media including black, transparent or metallic stocks, craft paper, and synthetics and polys. Adding clear dry ink can contribute to vibrant spot colors, metallic gradients, photographic enhancements, high-impact floods and other effects that make visual elements “pop.” Multi-pass and dimensional capabilities can further enhance these embellishments with tactile textures.

Iridesse delivers Ultra High Definition (HD) Resolution, combining 2400 x 2400 dpi imaging resolution with up to 1200 x 1200 x 10-bit rendering resolution. With print speeds as fast as 120 ppm, a range of inline finishing options and the capability to handle mixed media and stocks as heavy as 400 gsm, print providers can take on an even wider variety of jobs. Additionally, the press’ new extra long sheet size capability enables a broader range of applications including tri-fold brochures, pocket folders and posters. Iridesse can also auto-duplex extra long sheets up to 28.5”.

The new production press can print metallic gold or silver dry ink, CMYK and clear or white dry ink in one single printing pass. Xerox Color FLX technology enables two inline specialty dry ink stations so customers can create high impact applications with spot colors, metallic and iridescent hues making the most of lucrative specialty enhancements. Iridesse can auto duplex long sheet sizes up to 28.5”, and also print sheet sizes as long as 47.24”.

The Brenva HD Production Inkjet Press will have two new optional features on display: a speed up kit and a Tecnau SheetFeeder™ BV roll feed system. The optional speed up kit enables up to 275 impressions per minute of letter-sized duplex pages, while the Tecnau SheetFeeder BV roll feed system for Brenva HD delivers up to 10 hours of non-stop paper feeding. In addition to these new options, the Brenva HD now features an expanded media range, up to 270 gsm, enabling jobs such as postcards or ID cards that require heavier stocks.

XMPie, A Xerox Company, will highlight solutions that deliver highly effective, personalized cross-media communications and web-to-print portals.
