Symphony Printing Supports N.J. Vocational-Technical Schools
Symphony Printing was named Business Partner of the Year by the New Jersey Council of County Vocational-Technical Schools.
Symphony Printing, Belleville, N.J., was named Business Partner of the Year by the New Jersey Council of County Vocational-Technical Schools (NJCCVTS) for its continued support of the Essex County Vocational Technical Schools (ECVTS).
According to Frank Gargiulo, president of NJCCVTS and superintendent of the Hudson County Schools of Technology, “Business partners know that by dedicating their companies to county vocational-technical schools they are helping shape tomorrow’s workforce.” County vocational-technical schools rely on their business partners for a variety of services, such as serving on advisory committees, helping develop curriculum, teaching classes as guest lecturers, serving as mentors, and hiring students.
Symphony Printing began its partnership with ECVTS four years ago, and has opened its doors to students ever since. “We wanted to give local students the opportunity to get hands-on experience and an understanding of what goes into running a printing operation,” explained Lee and Claudia Johnson, owners of Symphony Printing.
“Over the years, we’ve had ECVTS students fill in as a printing or office assistant, and others, who were more technically savvy, worked as a junior press operator or assembly and bindery operator. And, for some students, this has resulted in full-time employment, which turned out to be a win-win situation for all involved,” she added.
NJCCVTS is a statewide advocacy organization that consists of vocational school districts in each of the 21 counties. The companies receiving this award were honored as part of NJCCVTS’ statewide Business Partnership Month in honor of people and companies who support career and technical education in New Jersey.
Symphony Printing, www.symphonyprinting.com, offers graphic design, printing, and bindery for all types of print products, including brochures, posters, flyers, booklets, annual reports, and books.
