Helping organizations reach new levels of printing, scanning and document security in office environments, Canon Inc. and Adobe Systems Inc. entered into a global agreement to embed Adobe technology into Canon’s newest family of office document solutions. This agreement is an extension of an alliance between the two companies established in 2005.

Canon will promote a number of Adobe technologies within the new Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series, benefiting knowledge workers in the areas of document output, workflow and security. The technologies include:

  • Adobe PostScript 3 Printing—With Canon’s imageRUNNER ADVANCE systems, embedded printing capabilities, including support for Adobe PostScript 3, will be available, helping organizations achieve higher document control and quality at an affordable price.
  • Adobe PDF Technology—Supporting Adobe PDF technologies, including PDF Reader Extensions, PDF/A-1b archiving support, Optimize PDF for Web, Adobe PDF file formats and Digital Signatures, imageRUNNER ADVANCE systems are capable of enhancing end-user information workflows within PDF centric business processes.
  • Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management ES—With integration to LiveCycle Rights Management ES directly from the imageRUNNER ADVANCE control panel, users can apply LiveCycle document security policies to scanned documents assuring valuable corporate information is protected regardless of where and to whom it is sent.

“Working with industry-leading partners such as Adobe has allowed us to develop value added capabilities on the imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform which we expect to deliver tremendous benefits to regional and global organizations,” said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Canon USA. “The combination of Canon’s advanced innovation and Adobe’s industry-leading technologies will allow both companies to offer their customers enhanced document management solutions as well as improved document security.”
