Joel Quadracci of Quad Graphics was the honored recipient of the 56th annual Walter E. Soderstrom Award at the gala Soderstrom Recognition Dinner in the Tuscany Room of the Orlando Ritz-Carlton on Saturday, Sept. 24.

Long noted as one of the industry’s most celebrated events, the dinner once again provided a perfect opportunity for recognition of the best of our industry and an evening of fellowship for friends new and old from throughout the industry. During this year’s program, a dozen industry leaders were also honored with induction into the prestigious Idealliance Soderstrom Society.

“We were delighted to present the 2016 Soderstrom Award to Joel Quadracci,” says David J. Steinhardt, President and Chief Executive Officer of Idealliance (Booth #1009), the new association formed through the recent merger of Idealliance and Epicomm. “Joel’s career is evidence of his exceptional commitment to the advancement of our industry and makes him a very deserving recipient of our highest honor for industry service.”

Quadracci is Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Quad/Graphics, Sussex, Wis., a company founded by his father in 1971. Joel joined the company in 1991 and held a variety of sales and strategy roles before joining the Board in 2003, becoming President and Chief Executive Officer in 2006, and adding the Chairman title in 2010.

He radically transformed the company in 2010 when he took it public and directed the acquisition and integration of World Color, creating North America’s second largest provider of print, digital, and related media services. Joel also directed the purchase of three Mexican plants from Canada’s Transcontinental Inc. in 2011, the purchase of Vertis in 2013, and the acquisition of Brown in 2014, and he led the company’s geographic expansion into Asia through a strategic partnership with Manipal Technologies, India’s largest print services and end-to-end business solutions provider.

Twelve industry leaders, representing a broad and diverse cross-section of the graphic communications industry, were inducted into Idealliance’s Soderstrom Society during ceremonies at the gala event this year.
