PRIMIR (The Print Industries Market Information and Research Organization) provides in-depth research and analysis for the graphic communications industry. PRIMIR research is funded by member dues as well as through support from NPES. PRIMIR annually provides more than $500,000 in current research studies, including relevant market statistics and detailed information on graphic arts and related fields. Members also benefit from meetings, market research skills building and robust networking opportunities.

Major research studies underway by PRIMIR include:

            Megatrends in Digital Printing Applications – IT Strategies (Hanover, MA) is putting the finishing touches on a report that will be published in the fall that investigates trends in usage of digital printing and evaluates 12 major print applications, determining which will migrate from analog to digital production printing, when, how much and why.

            Trends & Future of Direct Marketing – J Zarwan Partners with INTERQUEST (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and Charlottesville, VA) teamed together to conduct this study that evaluates major vertical markets and their use of direct marketing. The study will evaluate technology, economic/social issues, environmental, postal rates and demographics in the North American marketplace that may impact or influence the North American print market.

Two additional studies to be released in 2011 will be:

            Transformative Workflow Strategies for Print Applications – InfoTrends (Weymouth, MA) is conducting this study that will explore the unique characteristics of a transformative workflow developed in support of business objectives or practices or for a key print application. The study is to be broken out by five major print segments (publication printing, promotional printing, commercial printing, financial/transactional printing and within an in-plant or CRD firm).

            Economic Indicators for Print – Applied Economics Research Institute (AERI) of the University of Cincinnati (Ohio) will conduct the research for PRIMIR. It will provide an academic analysis of the printing industry and identify economic indicators that can be used to forecast industry growth, and demand for key print products, printing equipment and supplies.
