Sun Chemical Named ‘Innovator of the Year 2015’ at the Annual Stationers’ Company Innovation Excellence Awards
SunJet beat over 15 finalists to be named ‘Innovator of the Year 2015’ at the Stationers’ Company annual Innovation Excellence Awards Ceremony.
SunJet, the global inkjet division of Sun Chemical, beat over 15 finalists to be named ‘Innovator of the Year 2015’ at the Stationers’ Company annual Innovation Excellence Awards Ceremony held recently at Stationers’ Hall, London.
Sun Chemical secured the top title of ‘Innovator of the Year’ for its low migration inkjet inks for food packaging in recognition of its application of ‘novel chemistry’. The development produces compliant inks designed specifically to prevent components within ink migrating into the packaged food. These include its SunJet Etijet™ UV ink for narrow-web and labels, as well as its Amphora™ range for general packaging. Both inks are manufactured in accordance to good manufacturing practice (GMP), in line with EuPIA guidelines for food packaging applications.
Commenting on the award, Peter Saunders, Business Director at SunJet, said: “We are constantly looking at ways in which to stretch the boundaries of innovation in the development of our inks, so we are delighted that our ongoing commitment to research and technological advance has been recognised with this prestigious award.”
He continued: “One thing that brand owners and printers shouldn’t have to worry about is the effect of printing inks and coatings on the packaged products. At Sun Chemical, we have worked extremely hard for many years to ensure we deliver the highest quality compliant solutions that meet the stringent regulations for food packaging applications.”
