With more than 180 installations worldwide, the HP (Booth 1202) Indigo 10000 Digital Press is leading the B2-format digital print market. Its innovative design, larger format and high print quality enable customers to increase productivity and expand into new applications. HP Indigo 10000 customers, such as Benson Integrated Marketing Solutions, Falkland Press and DPI Direct, use the press to remain competitive in the digital print market and meet increasingly difficult customer demand.
In 2013, Benson Integrated Marketing Solutions’ three main production areas were print, signage and apparel. Like most companies, growth had been incremental, and its press room was operating two conventional sheet-fed presses and a dry toner digital system. “We saw the need to become more efficient in our print workflow, and we saw the opportunity to address this with the B2-format HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press,” Brian Benson, Founder and CEO says. “The B2 format of the HP Indigo 10000 offered greater production flexibility, higher throughput and a greater ROI opportunity as well as the chance to have some excess capacity.”
While most printers are described as ‘taking the step into digital production’, in the case of Benson, it was more like plunging into digital. Within two weeks of commissioning its HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press, the company decommissioned and sold its conventional presses. As a result of this radical shift, the company was able to reduce cost and production times through elimination of prepress and manual processes, achieve ROI targets and positive cash-flow from day one, and deliver true automation and more cost-effective services to customers.
Falkland Press, one of the UK’s leading commercial printers, also invested in the HP Indigo 10000 after a long-planned investment strategy and is seeing similar results.
“The HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press gives us four to six times the production speed (depending on imposition), its larger B2-format offers unique oversized products, and we have the ability to deliver same-day turnaround for higher volumes,” explains Jon Lancaster, managing director at Falkland Press. “Production on our HP Indigo digital presses has grown 50 percent a year over the last seven years. Last year our digital production represented 22.5 percent of our overall production. This year, with the addition of the HP Indigo 10000, it will reach 45 percent.”
Business growth with the HP Indigo 10000 is not limited to Benson Integrated Marketing Solutions and Falkland Press. DPI Direct enjoyed a 250 percent bump in digital print productivity after gaining B2-format capabilities.
To respond to growing demand for digital print production, DPI Direct installed an HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press. Its 20-by-29-inch format more than doubled DPI Direct’s capacity and expanded its applications to include oversized self-mailers, pocket folders and more.
“The addition of the HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press is really driving business growth forward. It offers us a 250 percent gain in productivity by allowing us to produce two and a half times the volume on a single sheet,” said Sam Mousavi, president and CEO of DPI Direct. “This year [digital print] will account for 50 percent of our business and within two years it will grow to 120 percent of current levels. With the substantial volume increase we have been experiencing in the last two or three months, we are very close to our ROI target and way ahead of schedule.”
