Printing Spectrum Wins NAPL Management Plus Merit Award
    Printing Spectrum, NAPL

Printing Spectrum, located in East Setauket, N.Y., was recently awarded a NAPL Management Plus Merit Award.

This year, Printing Spectrum is one of only eight companies chosen for recognition and only one of two in its sales volume category. Essentially, winning this award is a confirmation that Printing Spectrum is on the right track not only in terms of its progress, but the internal systems it has established to help us make its vision become a reality. Given that Printing Spectrum link its goals directly to those of customers, the staff feels "very confident about our future and have reaffirmed that our success is directly related to our commitment to helping our customers meet their objectives. Thank you for your part in helping us achieve this highly sought after award from the NAPL."

What is the Management Plus Merit Award?

The award program has been in existence for more than 25 years. Unlike other graphic arts competitions in which individual printed pieces are judged, NAPL’s Management Plus Merit Award competition evaluates every day management procedures and policies of printing companies. The Management Plus Merit Award is a total quality evaluation competition, not only in terms of whether finished printed pieces look good but in terms of short and long term management philosophy and the types of management systems each company has in place. The Management Plus award is based on the idea that consistently excellent performers must have effective systems in place that guarantee high results time after time.

Management Plus entrants are judged on how they perform against industry standards in nine key areas: internal control systems; financial performance; marketing/sales plan; business planning; human resources; environmental/safety concerns; quality control; community/industry affairs; and vendor relations. All printing companies, including non-members are invited to take part in the contest. Companies compete against others with similar sales volume.

The NAPL, National Association of Printers and Lithographers, a not-for-profit trade association, was founded in 1933. The NAPL membership is comprised of thousands of printing companies of varying sizes. The association provides seminars, books, consulting, etc. to its membership in order to help printers stay on the leading edge of innovation and profitably. It is the largest association of its kind.
