Packaging Graphics LLC (a division of the Matlet Group) installed a new Bobst ExpertFold 110 A2 CS folder-gluer. The high-speed, computer set folder-gluer is the most recent addition to the finishing department of its 300,000-sq.-ft. manufacturing facility in Pawtucket, R.I.
“When it comes to equipment and technology, we invest proactively in anticipation of market trends and customer requirements, but we also needed the extra capacity that the ExpertFold has brought to our operation” said Brad Lopez, finishing manager of Packaging Graphics. “Continual improvement of our facilities, equipment and personnel is a priority for us. It’s necessary to allow us to continue to exceed the quality and productivity requirements of our customers, while controlling costs for both Packaging Graphics and our customers.”
The firm’s new ExpertFold is configured to fold and glue straight line and auto-bottom work at speeds up to 1,476 ft./min., giving Packaging Graphics the versatility to produce a wide variety of products including pocket folders, CD and DVD sleeves and boxes ranging from small cosmetic and pharmaceutical boxes to “family sized” retail containers. The folder-gluer is equipped with an ACCUFeed module which feeds as well as aligns the blanks as they enter the machine.
It also has a Bobst Flipper Ejector and quality control features that allow samples to be taken without interrupting the high-speed operation of the machine. The system can also automatically remove cartons that do not meet the job specifications.
Packaging Graphics’ ExpertFold is equipped with the Bobst C.U.B.E. 3 control system (Bobst’s latest Computer Set (CS) control) and provides the operator the capability to store and recall job data, collect and monitor productivity and maintenance information and reduce set-up times. Its modular design allows the folder-gluer to be reconfigured (adding additional modules or components) should it become necessary to adjust for future product mixes or customer requirements.
Packaging Graphics’ Pawtucket facility provides printing, packaging, thermoforming and turnkey packaging solution for customers in the greater New England regions as well as serving national and international markets. The new ExpertFold joins Packaging Graphics’ two existing Bobst folder-gluers, a Media 100 II A2 and a Mistral 110 A2 with four and six corner option, and three Bobst Autoplaten blanking die cutters.
