Memjet announced that Kirk-Rudy, a leading designer and manufacturer of equipment for the graphic arts industry, has adopted Memjet’s newest printing technology, DuraFlex, to power its latest inkjet printer, the FireJet 4C Color Inkjet System. Kirk-Rudy chose DuraFlex because it is the one technology that supports the creation of a powerful yet affordable solution with the capabilities needed to reach multiple print markets, including documents, packaging, labeling and direct mail. Kirk-Rudy will be showcasing the FireJet 4 Color Inkjet System in booth 7411, in the South Hall, at PackExpo, September 23-25 in Las Vegas.

Kirk-Rudy has been a leader in production inkjet systems for over 20 years and has a long-standing reputation for building quality, industrial-grade equipment, including feeding, labeling, attaching, transporting, inserting, and stacking systems.

Its most recent innovation is an all-in-one printing system that combines the heavy-duty transport Kirk-Rudy is famous for with the quality and reliability the industry expects from Memjet technology. Based on industry demand, Kirk-Rudy developed the FireJet 4C Color Inkjet System, a new breed of inkjet printer that offers a productive alternative to the smaller desktop, toner-based digital color printers on the market today as well as a low-cost alternative to larger production press systems.

“We created the FireJet 4C to give our customers the ability to bring high-speed color printing with near-offset quality to a range of cut sheet markets,” said Bob Mills, general manager at Kirk-Rudy. The modularity and ease of integration of the DuraFlex technology supported us in that goal, enabling us to develop a printing solution that lets customers grow their business while generating a positive return on their investment.”

The DuraFlex-powered FireJet 4C can print A3+ and A4 cut sheets in full color (CMYK) at 1600 x 1600 dpi and can print at speeds up to 150 ft/min. The newly designed user-replaceable printhead has been engineered to provide a longer life — approximately 120 liters — and outstanding image quality across a broad range of porous, uncoated offset, inkjet-treated and inkjet-coated media.

Technology for the Way We Print Today

The creation of the FireJet 4C comes at a time when the print industry is undergoing a transformation. Successful printers today are expanding by capitalizing on new opportunities regardless of market.

“Rather than make large investments in costly, complex equipment, printers in all markets are looking for more affordable, easier-to-use and powerful entry-level press systems with the speed and quality needed to capture new market opportunities, stated Kim Beswick, general manager of Memjet’s benchtop and mini-press division. “Memjet plays a key role in helping capable OEM partners like Kirk-Rudy develop these new types of printing solutions and bring them to market faster and at less cost. We look forward to seeing the impact of the FireJet 4C on a printer’s business and the industry as a whole.”
